Željava Airbase

Have a little history lesson and visit Željava Airbase, the largest underground airport and military airbase in the former Yugoslavia, and one of the largest in Europe. Airport is situated on the border between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina under Plješevica Mountain.

Drežnik Old Town

Drežnik Old Town is a defensive fortress from the 12 th century. Drežnik had many different rulers through the centuries, which left a mark on its walls that still stand 900 years later. It is one of the few preserved historical attractions of the Plitvice Valleys and Municipality of Rakovica has decided to protect and carefully restore it.

Village of Rastoke

This watermill village is sometimes known as "the Small Lakes of Plitvice", and is connected to the Plitvice Lakes by the Korana River. 1962 Rastoke village fell under the protection of the State Directorate for cultural and historical heritage.

Nikola Tesla Memorial center

Nikola Tesla is a prominent person with an importan place, not just in Croatioan but in world's history as well. Nikola made dozens of breakthroughs in the production, transmission and application of electric power. In his birth village Smiljani you can not only visit historical buildings like Birth house of Nikola Tesla, the church of saint Apostles Peter and Paul, the outbuilding (barn) and stone monuments and benches but also participate in a demonstration of wireless transfer of electric energy using the Tesla coil in the experimental station and watch a documentary about Tesla in the theater room.
