This enchanting corner near Plitvice, located in Drežnik Grad, feels like an open-air zoo. Spread across 15 hectares, the ranch is home to red deer, fallow deer, shy roe deer, and graceful does. In addition to wild game, you’ll also spot Black Slavonian pigs and beautiful horses.
The Bićanić family has lovingly cared for these animals for years. The ranch officially opened in 2009 as part of the Bićanić family farm (OPG). Red deer are especially impressive, both strong and elegant. The male, known locally as “košutnjak” or “vilenjak”, can weigh over 200 kilograms, and their antlers can grow over a meter wide. They shed and regrow these antlers every year, a remarkable natural process you’ll learn more about on the tour. And best of all, you’ll experience it all in person.
In addition to red deer, you’ll also encounter fallow deer as you walk through the ranch. Their most distinctive feature is the palmate shape of the males’ antlers – broad, flat, and gently serrated, like the spread of a hand. Watching the interaction between fallow and red deer in Deer Valley is a highlight of any visit.
Though different in size and temperament, these species coexist peacefully. Fallow deer tend to stay closer to visitors, moving in small herds, while red deer keep a noble distance, observing from afar.
