Discover the Flavours of the Plitvice Region

The flavours of the Plitvice region are shaped by a long tradition of life surrounded by forest, mountains, and clean water, where simple ingredients have always played the leading role. Lika cuisine is especially known for its rich, hearty flavours suited to a mountainous climate, as well as its deep connection to the nature that surrounds it.

While travelling through Plitvice and its surroundings, you will easily come across small family farms (OPGs) and rural households offering a wide range of homemade products: cheeses, honey, liqueurs, and brandies. Each product carries the story of the region it comes from, and through tasting, you become part of a tradition passed down through generations.

Family Farms and Small Producers as Guardians of Tradition

Small family farms are true gems of Lika’s gastronomic offering.
Each product is the result of tradition, dedication, and love for the region.

On your tasting tour around Plitvice, we recommend visiting small family farms (OPGs) and sampling local products – the best way to truly connect with the Plitvice region.

OPG Čubrić Brigita

Apitourism is still in its early stages in Lika, but honey production around Plitvice is already rich and full of potential.

A visit to OPG Brigita Čubrić is ideal for all honey lovers: taste natural, homemade honey and other bee products, explore the beehives, and let the hosts introduce you to the fascinating world of bees.

A particularly unique experience at this farm is honey inhalation therapy. It lasts 20–30 minutes and has many beneficial effects on the body. During the process, you inhale air directly from the beehive.

How to Plan a Plitvice Tasting Tour

To fully experience the richness of Lika’s flavours, it is best to plan your tasting tour in advance and spread it over several days.

Many OPGs, cheese dairies, and distilleries operate on a smaller scale, so it is recommended to arrange visits and tastings in advance. The ideal combination includes exploring natural attractions during the day, followed by relaxed enjoyment of local products and specialties in the afternoon.

For a truly premium experience, it is also important to choose accommodation that fits the authentic atmosphere of the Plitvice region.
