This family farm started operating in 2001 with seven cows on five hectares of land. Today, they have 30 dairy cows, 20 young calves, and their own animal feed production on nearly 75 hectares of land. Every day, they process over 200 liters of milk, which allows them to maintain full control over the production of their excellent cheese assortment.
Turkalj Dairy is renowned for cheeses carrying the “Lika Quality” label, including “Rakovički Glavan” – a semi-hard cheese matured for 90 days and awarded at international festivals and fairs. In addition to that, you’ll find fresh škripavac cheese, smoked and white Rakovica cheese, and Lička basa – a traditional yogurt – as well as skuta (ricotta-like whey cheese).
This short trip easily fits into a morning or afternoon and offers an experience you’ll remember for a long time.
